This demonstrates that specialist consultants in the field of IT Management are now as important as universal consulting firms.

Management, expertise and technology for IT projects

The jury for the "Best of Consulting 2014" competition was especially impressed by the IT³ concept from it-economics. Its comprehensive approach brings together management skills, technological know-how and expertise in the corresponding area throughout the lifespan of the project. In this context, the results of the "Pegasus Gas 2.0" project for E.ON that was submitted to the competition were based on a strategic analysis with out-of-the-box thinking, which it-economics also combined with its expertise in the sector. "Thanks to our specialisation in the area of IT, we have in-depth knowledge of this field, and as a comparatively small consulting firm, we can also respond to our customers on a direct, flexible and personal basis. These are advantages that we have over the big consulting firms, and we are taking our chances," explained Torsten Klein, Managing Director of it-economics.

Competitive advantage thanks to "Pegasus Gas 2.0"

With the motto of "Speeding up your Business and IT", it-economics hit the starting blocks in the field of IT Management with the "Pegasus Gas 2.0" project. The project that was developed together with E.ON brings together high speed and considerable flexibility in the competitive market thanks to its close interfacing between business and IT. This is possible by consistently pursuing the agile approach (the "scrum method"). "With "Pegasus 2.0" we are in a position of being able to better fulfil our customers' requirements and to both calculate and offer our products on a market-proximate, high frequency basis. In addition to this, new products can also be implemented for our customers on a rapid and cost-optimised basis," explained Julian Lipinski, Director of E.ON Energy Sales. Moreover, E.ON is now in a position of being able to activate and deactivate the almost unlimited computing power of the cloud within minutes – and naturally with the highest standards of data security at the same time. The decoupling of the calculation processes in "shared libraries" and their shared use has also made a key contribution to the efficient collaboration of the different corporate units.

Assessment from the critical point of view of the customer

The evaluation of the projects that were submitted for the "Best of Consulting 2014" competition took place in a three-part process, with the brand strength, increase in value and project success being measured from the critical point of view of the customer The first two aspects were ascertained with a representative survey and presented in the categories of "Brand Excellence“ and "Business Excellence." The third aspect of "Project Excellence" was assessed in an open competition, in which it-economics convinced the jury in the area of IT Management with its "Pegasus Gas 2.0" project. The winners were chosen by a jury consisting of leading managers from the world of business, as well as professors and journalists.
