On Thursday, 25.10.2018, an Atlassian workshop for students took place in the premises of it-economics. Half a dozen students from different universities and from different disciplines, such as Industrial Engineering, Business Informatics and Computer Science were invited to participate.
The aim of the workshop was to give the participants an insight into the "smart" tools Jira Software, Confluence, Bitbucket and Bamboo of the manufacturer Atlassian and to learn how to utilize these tools in agile software development projects. Two Scrum teams, the "Ninja Turtles" and the "Simpsons" were formed to handle a small case study in a simulated development process. At the beginning, the teams had to create user stories as tickets in Jira and to allocate them according to an effort estimation in sprints. Afterwards, the participants were able to prove their skills by completing a code of a small program and then releasing it for control in Bitbucket.
To sum it up, the workshop was a well-round event for everyone involved. At the end, in cozy settings, the participants enjoyed a pizza and drinks and exchanged with employees of it-economics from the Atlassian and HR team about career opportunities in IT.
